The Wildnerness Downtown Video

September 20, 2010

This is such an awesome, interesting concept for a music video. Seriously, if you don’t have Google Chrome, download it just to watch experience this video. And ignore this post if you’ve already seen it!

The Arcade Fire’s new song, We Used to Wait has been made into a video. But not just any video. An interactive conglomeration of images, a plethora of little windows with a thousand things going on – it’s impossible to describe, but so cool to watch!

Oh, and did I mention that it was shot in your hometown? Yeah! On your street, actually. How cool is that!

Confused? The video uses Google Maps info + Street View and mixes it all together into the video so that the character stands, spins and runs down your street. It’s ridiculously awesome. So awesome, in fact, that I paused in my oh-so-important organic chemistry studying just to post about it on my blog! (Okay, you caught me, I didn’t need much of an excuse..)

Oh, and the song’s really good too. Check it out!

No need for Chrome, Safari does the job just as well ;). You do have to be grown up in a street that is covered on Google Streetview though… and apparently my home town is not civilized enough to have earned that honour ;)

Oh no! and here I was thinking that Google streetview was all over the world! I thought if it had my silly little suburban street it’d have everything! :( That’s too bad. But very good video just as well!

What is this!? No streetview in the vicinity of my chosen adress? Good find though :D.
